Indian Fashion Goes West
As Indian women step out to work, they are putting away their traditional Saris & salwar kameez & switching to western wear.
Women say they find Western clothing more convenient, especially when working or using public transportation campared to salwar kameez or Saree. Many offices now also prefer their employees to wear Western wear.
Branded trouser and skirts market has been growing at a whopping 27 percent in sales terms. Western influence is growing as people watch TV and films and style their own fashion in a contemporary manner.
The younger ones are shopping for cotton capris and short tops while working women like trousers and fitted shirts that don't interfere when they're driving or working. Shopping malls, selling branded clothes, have been growing in India like mushrooms, attracting youngsters.

One of the other reason, I think why both Indian men & women are leaning towards western fashion is because of the media explosion in the resent past.
The younger generation is highly influences with the glamour of the TV shows & films.
At the same time, a number of western designer are taking inspiration from Indian culture for their designs.
We as Indian should be proud of our culture and try to maintain it to the maxs.

I think that instead of switching to western wear we should modify the salwar kameez a bit to suit our working requirement.
I think that we as Indian dont have confidence in our culture and get easily impressed by the West, that is why we keep turning to the Western wear. Where are the leading are taking influence from the East.
There is nothing more convient & elegant than a nicely stitched Salwar Kameez. Our designer are doing a wonderful job and making the salwar kameez more practical according to the needs of todays lifestyle.
So people dont be influenced so easily with the glamour of the west. Be proud to about your culture as it has been there for centuries.
